When will you be charged?
Payments are automatically charged the day the service is rendered. If you do not show up for your appointment, this charge will still be applied as a cancelled appointment fee. If you miss 2 appointments in a row, you will automatically be discharged as it is not responsible for me to continue taking payments without actively seeing a client. Note that insurance may not cover your missed appointment if you are submitting your receipts for reimbursement.
All payments are subject to a processing fee and applicable sales tax. Excitingly, the government is considering a proposal to remove sales tax on psychotherapy, but this has not yet passed and thus all taxes must still be applied to appointments.
Payment Method Verification Fee
When you initially register for services, you will be charged $0.50 as a processing fee to verify that your credit card is legitimate. This fee is required by the payment processor, Stripe. This particular fee will only apply to the first-time registration to capture billing information securely.
How will you be charged?
The payment processor used is Stripe. All data is handled securely and not stored on this website for extra protection. Stripe charges through credit card, google pay, or apple pay. Not even I will know your full credit card information as Stripe protects and encrypts this.
Do you take insurance?
I do not directly take insurance but many providers (such as the public service health provider’s plan for military spouses/dependants and government workers) offer psychotherapy/counselling services as part of their plans. You will send them your receipt to make your claim after paying directly for your appointment.
How to avoid the “cancelled appointment fee”
If you know you will not be able to make an appointment, please reach out to contact@shaylynnraymond.com 48 hours before your appointment. It is often not possible to fill vacancies in under this time, and rescheduling last minute not only takes away the opportunity from a person on the wait list to receive services, but also hinders the practice’s ability to continue operating (expenses).
If you have an emergency situation, please reach out and we can discuss options. Emergencies are up to the discretion of the counsellor. Medical proof may be requested for refund or fee waiver.
