Counselling for Individuals with Misophonia
These counselling sessions are designed to help individuals in Canada develop effective coping strategies for managing misophonia and related sensory challenges. Counselling provides a supportive, therapeutic environment where you can explore your experiences and build personalized coping mechanisms.
Cost: $150 CAD per session.
Insurance: Many insurance plans in Canada cover counselling services. Please check with your provider to confirm coverage.
Format: Sessions are conducted via Zoom.
Personalized Approach
Each session is tailored to meet the client’s unique needs. Counselling can follow a structured path or be flexible, adapting to your current challenges and goals. Here is an example of a 10-session counselling plan, but ongoing support is also available:
– Initial Appointment: Psychoeducation combined with learning about your needs and challenges.
Misophonia Self-Assessment: Completion of an assessment followed by a discussion to understand your perspective.
– Skills Building: Introduction of cognitive and sensory-based strategies.
– Coping Strategies & Sensory Diet: Continued focus on building personalized strategies and enhancing sensory coping mechanisms.
– Final Session: Reflection on progress and debriefing the counselling process.
Rescheduling Policy
Appointments can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice.

… holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and has been an advocate for misophonia since 2015. Shaylynn has misophonia and is the director of The International Misophonia Foundation. Shaylynn is the author of Full of Sound and Fury and Misophonia Matters. All coaching for misophonia is based on the Misophonia Matters book and is NOT a therapy service, but rather coaching to offer coping skills and psychoeducation for the disorder.
