Email therapy is a distinctive, asynchronous approach tailored for those who find significant clarity through the act of intentional writing. In contrast to a live session, email therapy doesn’t necessitate you to be online at a fixed time. Instead, it enables you to compose your thoughts and reflections at your own pace—whenever they arise—and send them to a confidential and protected clinical inbox. This format is perfect for individuals with busy schedules, people in crowded households where privacy for a call is difficult to secure, or those who prefers to contemplate their thoughts before sharing them.
The process is both organized and adaptable. Each “session” generally involves one comprehensive clinical interaction: you submit your narrative, and I provide a deep-dive clinical response within a defined timeframe, typically 24 to 48 business hours. My reply is a carefully crafted, structured intervention that mirrors the depth of a 50-minute session, offering perspectives, questions, and tools for reflection. You can then take the time to review and digest my feedback as often as you need before replying again. Because every word is documented, email therapy creates a permanent, growing “journal” of your therapeutic journey that you can visit whenever you need a reminder of your progress.
Please be aware that email therapy is not currently covered by insurance providers. While real-time modalities are usually eligible for reimbursement, insurance companies generally do not recognize asynchronous email as a billable service. This option is provided as a self-pay service for clients who value the flexibility and written nature of the medium. We use a PHIPA/PIPEDA-compliant, healthcare-grade encrypted email service to ensure that your narrative remains strictly confidential. It’s an accessible, low-pressure way to pursue meaningful psychological work while maintaining complete control over your schedule.
