Asynchronous counselling is a specialized, asynchronous modality created for clients who find the most clarity through the act of intentional writing. Unlike a live session, email therapy does not require you to be present at a fixed time. Instead, it permits you to compose your thoughts and reflections at your own pace—whenever they arise—and send them to a confidential and protected clinical inbox. This medium is perfect for individuals with hectic schedules, people in crowded households where privacy for a call is difficult to secure, or anyone who prefers to contemplate their thoughts before submitting them.
The process is both organized and adaptable. Each “session” typically consists of one comprehensive clinical interaction: you submit your narrative, and I deliver a deep-dive clinical response within a defined timeframe, typically 24 to 48 business hours. My response is a thoughtful, structured intervention that reflects the depth of a 50-minute conversation, offering insights, questions, and strategies for reflection. You can then take the time to review and digest my feedback as often as you need before responding again. Because every word is documented, email therapy provides a lasting “journal” of your therapeutic journey that you can refer back to whenever you need a reminder of your progress.
Please be advised that email therapy is not currently covered by insurance providers. While real-time modalities are typically eligible for coverage, insurance companies often do not recognize asynchronous email as a billable service. This option is provided as a self-pay service for those who value the flexibility and written nature of the medium. We use a highly secure, healthcare-grade encrypted email service to ensure that your narrative remains entirely confidential. It’s an inviting, low-pressure way to engage in meaningful psychological work while maintaining total control over your time and expression.
