Email therapy is a specialized, asynchronous modality tailored for those who find greater clarity through the act of reflective writing. In contrast to a live session, email therapy doesn’t necessitate you to be online at a specific time. Instead, it permits you to draft your thoughts and concerns at your own pace—at the moment they arise—and deliver them to a confidential and protected clinical inbox. This medium is perfect for individuals with busy schedules, those in crowded households where privacy for a call is hard to find, or anyone who prefers to contemplate their thoughts before submitting them.
The process is both organized and adaptable. Each “session” typically consists of one comprehensive therapeutic exchange: you submit your narrative, and I deliver a deep-dive clinical response within a defined timeframe, usually 24 to 48 business hours. My reply is a carefully crafted, structured intervention that reflects the depth of a 50-minute conversation, offering perspectives, questions, and tools for reflection. You can subsequently take the time to review and digest my feedback as often as you need before responding again. Because every word is documented, email therapy creates a lasting “journal” of your therapeutic journey that you can visit any time you need a reminder of your growth.
Please be advised that email therapy is not currently covered by insurance providers. While live video, voice, and chat sessions are typically eligible for reimbursement, insurance companies generally do not recognize asynchronous email as a billable service. This option is provided as a self-pay service for clients who prioritize the flexibility and literary aspect of the medium. We use a highly secure, healthcare-grade encrypted email service to ensure that your narrative remains entirely confidential. It’s an inviting, low-pressure way to pursue meaningful counselling while maintaining total control over your schedule.
